Yin Metal Day Master — 辛 (xīn)
The Day Master is the heavenly stem of the day pillar: the sign that stands for you in a BaZi chart, the one every other sign is read against. There are ten of them, each element in a yang and a yin form. If you do not know yours yet, the calculator finds it from your birth date, time and place in a few seconds.
Traditional image
Yin Metal is a jewel, a fine blade, gold already worked: precise, refined, and aware of how it looks. The classics say it shines when clear water washes it and dulls when earth buries it or strong fire melts it. The image is discernment and finish: the detail that makes the difference, and a sensitivity to anything crude.
Three traits in this system
In this system a Yin Metal Day Master is read as a chart with these leanings:
- Precise: the detail matters.
- Refined taste, high standards.
- Discerning, quick to feel what is off.
This is a reading by the rules of the system, for reflection and planning, not a statement about you. How much of it shows depends on the rest of the chart.
What supports it and what draws on it
Metal is fed by Earth: signs of Metal and Earth in the chart support a Yin Metal Day Master. Water is what it produces, Wood is what it controls, and Fire is what controls it: these three draw on it. In the app each of these relations has a name among the ten gods, and the library explains every one of them.
Metal is in season in the first two months of autumn (around 7 August to early October). In this system the month of birth weighs most in the strength of the Day Master, so a Yin Metal Day Master born in its own season starts with the strongest support.
Strong or weak
In this system a Yin Metal Day Master is read through polish: the chart is asked whether there is clear water to bring out the shine and whether earth or fire overwhelm it. With strong support it is read as a chart that refines and judges well; with little support it is read as a jewel in the dust, and the planner looks for the periods that bring clarity.
How the app decides: it looks at the season of the month branch, at the roots of the Day Master's element among the stems hidden in the earthly branches, and at how many open signs support it against how many draw on it. The thresholds are published on the calculation method page, and next to every rating the app shows “why I see this”.
Its counterpart
Yin Metal is the yin form of Metal; the yang form is Yang Metal. The two share an element and a season but are read through different images.
Find your Day Master
The calculator runs the same engine as the BaziArt app and does not store your birth data. The app adds the planner, the hour windows and the full chart with “why I see this” under every term.
