Yang Fire Day Master — 丙 (bǐng)
The Day Master is the heavenly stem of the day pillar: the sign that stands for you in a BaZi chart, the one every other sign is read against. There are ten of them, each element in a yang and a yin form. If you do not know yours yet, the calculator finds it from your birth date, time and place in a few seconds.
Traditional image
Yang Fire is the sun: it shines on everyone without choosing, warms from a distance and cannot be hidden. The classics praise the sun reflected in a wide river and warn that heavy earth clouds it and that a flood puts it out. The image is openness and generosity, and also the risk of burning what stands too close.
Three traits in this system
In this system a Yang Fire Day Master is read as a chart with these leanings:
- Warm and open.
- Expansive: sees the whole field at once.
- Generous, sometimes to excess.
This is a reading by the rules of the system, for reflection and planning, not a statement about you. How much of it shows depends on the rest of the chart.
What supports it and what draws on it
Fire is fed by Wood: signs of Fire and Wood in the chart support a Yang Fire Day Master. Earth is what it produces, Metal is what it controls, and Water is what controls it: these three draw on it. In the app each of these relations has a name among the ten gods, and the library explains every one of them.
Fire is in season in the first two months of summer (around 5 May to early July). In this system the month of birth weighs most in the strength of the Day Master, so a Yang Fire Day Master born in its own season starts with the strongest support.
Strong or weak
In this system a Yang Fire Day Master is read through light and reach: the chart is asked whether the sun has wood to feed it and water to temper it. With strong support it is read as a chart that leads by visibility; with little support it is read as a winter sun, bright but low, and the planner looks for the periods that bring fuel.
How the app decides: it looks at the season of the month branch, at the roots of the Day Master's element among the stems hidden in the earthly branches, and at how many open signs support it against how many draw on it. The thresholds are published on the calculation method page, and next to every rating the app shows “why I see this”.
Its counterpart
Yang Fire is the yang form of Fire; the yin form is Yin Fire. The two share an element and a season but are read through different images.
Find your Day Master
The calculator runs the same engine as the BaziArt app and does not store your birth data. The app adds the planner, the hour windows and the full chart with “why I see this” under every term.
